BLARGH

October 26, 2005 @ 3:59 am

Have you ever wondered what blargh means? According to Dictionary.com it is: “An exclamation indicating that one has absorbed or is emitting a quantum of unhappiness.” A quantum packet of unhappiness!!! It is also the opposite of ping. Usage example: “Often, CMK can be pretty blargh.”

Now, there’s a keeper.

i love

the bass guitarist from gogol bordello. the one on the right. i want to have his babies. little gypsy punk babies. maybe. i mean, eugene would do too. i touched his shoulder. will i sleep tonight? most likely — i will sleep just fine. and i will be hung over at work. but i will be happy because there are creative people out there who make everything worth it. And, and, and, and — does anyone want to help me (pay, loan, pimp out) buy a ticket to this?

This video is plain wonderful. All I can say is: 1. “marvelous”, 2. “can I see it again?” (preview hint: it’s all about the 80s guy. profound visual and aural experience for mullet haters as well as mullet lovers.)

audioscrobbler

Last.fm, powered by audioscrobbler, I’m probably the last person on earth that doesn’t know about this. But I love the idea — I’m too lazy to actively stay on top of good music, that’s what I have friends for, and now also Last.fm, which correctly matched my obsession with Depeche Mode with similar artists that are all either on my playlist already or should be or i never heard of them but they sound splendind. Let’s see if this actually works.

Improv Everywhere

September 11, 2005 @ 7:15 am

Seems some Improv Everywhere members or copycats have made it to SF - a friend found himself in the middle of a modified ‘The Mobius’ at Starbuck’s this past week. The performance group - dedicated to good-humored prankism - has some great missions documented on their website, ‘The Mobius’, ‘Best Gig Ever’, and ‘Anton Chekov.’ (BTW - at press time, the only mission link that worked was ‘Anton Chekov.’)

music hurts

MUSIC HURTS is a new online music magazine, supposed to be all quality and such, featuring articles on such things as the rise of female drummers or mapping Iggy Pop’s influence on everybody and their mother. It’s always interesting to follow these things and track how long they can survive for. This one we can watch from its birth, since this is the first issue.
